Beyers to represent Nicor Gas in helping bring economic development to Illinois

Intersect Illinois today announced that Meena Beyers will join its board of directors, helping further the organization’s mission of bringing economic growth and jobs to Illinois. Beyers is the vice president of business and community development for Naperville-based Nicor Gas, Illinois’ largest gas distribution company.

“Meena’s wealth of experience in the energy sector and focus on community and economic development will make her an effective leader,” said Intersect Illinois CEO Dan Deals. “Our state’s utilities are tremendous assets, and involving them in the site selection process at all levels is essential to our efforts.”

In her role at Nicor Gas, Beyers oversees community and economic development, community affairs, customer solutions, energy efficiency services and strategy. She also leads corporate philanthropy, social impact initiatives to invest in communities, and partnerships to advance regional clean tech innovation and entrepreneurship. She most recently served as director of market strategy for Nicor’s parent company, Southern Company Gas. Beyers is a Leadership Greater Chicago fellow and serves on boards including the Metropolitan Planning Council and Chicago Coalition for the Homeless.

Beyers joins board members from companies including A. Lucas & Sons, Ameren Illinois, ADM, Carle Health, ComEd, 8 Hospitality Group, Loop Capital, OSF Healthcare and Wintrust Financial.
