Decatur – The state is making a major investment in a bioprocessing lab which could lead to thousands of jobs and a huge economic boost for central Illinois over the next decade.

State Senator Chapin Rose, (R) Mahomet, announced in Decatur Tuesday the state will commit $26 million in the Integrated Bioprocessing Research Lab (IBRL), at the University of Illinois.  The lab in turn will conduct biochemistry research and eventually develop bioprocessing/bio-green chemicals using corn and soybeans to convert petroleum chemicals into green chemicals.
