Matthew J. Streb is chief strategy officer and professor of political science at Northern Illinois University. Streb serves as a strategic advisor to President Lisa Freeman and the university’s Board of Trustees. He is involved in all aspects of the university, including government relations, alumni relations, fundraising, community engagement, faculty and staff development, athletics, and campus safety and led the university’s pandemic response.
A scholar of voting, elections, and public opinion, Streb has authored three books, including The New Electoral Politics of Race, Rethinking American Electoral Democracy, and The Battle for the Court; edited/co-authored five others and published numerous articles and book chapters throughout his career. His work has been featured on C-Span’s Washington Journal, and in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Times, Washington Monthly and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
