As Midwest States President, Eileen Mitchell leads AT&T’s External Affairs work across seven Midwest states connecting people to greater possibility.
Mitchell leads the company’s policy, philanthropy, and community engagement initiatives in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska. Since joining the company in 2003, she led successful policy and community engagement initiatives in Illinois and served as lead strategist for successful AT&T initiatives in other states.
Mitchell led development of Believe Chicago®, the company’s community engagement initiative supporting residents of Chicago’s underserved south and west side neighborhoods through AT&T hiring, investment, mentoring, and philanthropy. Believe Chicago® serves as the model for AT&T Believes
In 2015, Mitchell departed AT&T to serve as chief of staff to the Mayor of Chicago. In early 2017, she did volunteer work with the Archdiocese of Chicago helping the Cardinal develop the Office of Violence Prevention. She rejoined AT&T later in 2017 and was named AT&T Illinois President in 2018.
Mitchell serves on the Board of Directors of the Economic Club of Chicago, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, and Chicago Urban League. She is a member of the Loyola University Board of Trustees and serves as a member of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club and serves on the advisory board for Misericordia.
Born and raised in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, she is a graduate of Loyola University. Mitchell and her husband, Jim, are the proud parents of three children and reside in Chicago.
