The Business Development Associate is primarily responsible for assisting on projects to ensure deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality. The Business Development Associate performs a wide range of tasks in support of efforts to recruit employers to Illinois. This entry level position is focused primarily on gathering information for projects and leads. The Associate reports to the Site Selection Manager and Business Development Director and works closely with the entire business development team, as well as with the research and marketing teams.
The Director of Business Development is responsible for bringing business opportunities to the state of Illinois, proactive outreach and new client-relationship management, and tracking new markets and emerging trends. The director works with the business development team to find new opportunities for Illinois and deliver new projects. The Director of Business Development reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development and the two work together to supervise a team of business development and site selection managers and associates.
The Development Associate is a newly created role in the growing organization. The associate is responsible for supporting the communication of the organization’s value proposition to prospective and current corporate partners, recruiting and engaging the board of directors, and establishing and growing strategic partnership with utilities, trade associations and other entities that can help support the organization’s mission of growth in Illinois. The position reports to the Director of Corporate Relations.
The Director of Corporate Relations reports to the CEO and manages a team that includes a development associate. This newly created role in the growing organization is responsible for communicating the organization’s value proposition to prospective and current corporate partners, recruiting and engaging the board of directors, and establishing and growing strategic partnership with utilities, trade associations and other entities that can help support the organization’s mission of growth in Illinois.
The Director of Research oversees all activities related to the research department and manages a 3-4 person team, including interns. This position requires proactive thought leadership in order to set the research agenda for the organization, identify trends and new issue areas, and implement best practices.
The Director of Marketing reports to the CEO and manages a team that includes design and content managers. The director is responsible for brand management, marketing strategy planning and execution (including material and content development and paid media planning), tracking, analyzing and utilizing results to continuously elaborate on plans. The Director of Marketing also acts a spokesperson for the organization and liaison to marketing partners throughout the state.
The Research Associate is responsible for day-to-day research tasks as be a part of a team of economic development professionals using informed data analytics to attract investment and jobs into the state of Illinois. This position’s primary responsibility is to conduct research for projects, marketing materials, and partner communities (among other internal and external partners). The associate works to expand the team’s understanding of Illinois’ economy, the region’s competitive assets and other topics. This junior level position reports to the Research Manager and works closely with the business development, corporate relations, executive and marketing teams.
The Operations Associate provides assistance with the daily business management. Tasks vary according to the business operations with a typical focus on the financial, inventory, administrative support and human resources aspects of the business. Occasional meeting and event support is also required. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and Administration and works closely with all teams.
The Site Selection Manager oversees the pipeline of business development projects to completion, including leading project calls, communicating with local and state government stakeholders, organizing site visits, following up with consultants and clients and reporting outcomes through an internal CRM system. The manager reports to the Vice President and Director of Business Development and supervises/works closely with the Business Development Associate to make sure all projects are managed with the highest quality and efficiency.
The Special Events Manager is responsible for planning and managing events that align with Intersect Illinois’ mission and the State’s economic development goals, that build and strengthen partner relationships, and that enhance the organization’s brand with statewide, national, and international audiences. The manager is responsible for researching and securing venues, planning and managing the events calendar, negotiating quotes and agreements with vendors, assisting with event marketing, monitoring timeframes and budgets, networking and delivering on event objectives. The manager’s creativity, organizational skills, and vision amplifies Intersect’s visibility, enhances client and employee relations and improves the organization’s growth. The manager reports to the Vice President of Administration and Operations and works closely with the corporate relations, executive and marketing teams.
