Home to 72,000 of the nation’s farms, Illinois feeds the world. Illinois farms are top producers of corn, soybeans, livestock, dairy and poultry. The state ranks 3rd nationally in the export of agricultural commodities with $8.2 billion worth of goods shipped to other countries.

In addition to its agricultural prowess, Illinois boasts unrivaled expertise in food processing, employing more than 78,000 people and ranking #3 nationally with a GRP of $12.3B. Some of the world’s most well-known food producers call Illinois home. The state is also the top state in the nation for food private manufacturing R&D and a leader in agtech. Additionally, Illinois is home to three of the five publicly traded cannabis companies.
