For the past thirteen years, Japan’s second-largest pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma, Inc., has helped to solidify Illinois’ leadership in the nation’s lifesciences cluster.

The global pharmaceutical company, which established its Americas stronghold in Illinois in 2005, focuses on developing drugs related to urology, oncology, immunology and infectious disease.

In 2012, Astellas re-established its long-term commitment to Illinois with the opening of its new $150 million corporate campus.

The company’s Illinois presence includes employees focused on research and development, regulatory affairs, human resources, corporate communications, finance and other corporate-level positions.
